The Windmill Trend Evolution Fund (the ‘Fund’) invests in ‘best-in-class’ trend-following funds with a strong focus on systematic investment strategies outside the regular markets. The Fund offers investors direct access to particularly innovative and successful trend-following funds.
Through the Fund, investments are made in a large number of markets, where other traditional trend-following managers are generally not active, because these are difficult to access and/or require scale. The selected funds all have a strategy that involves a considerable amount of quantitative research, control of operational complexity, in-depth knowledge and relationships in the industry, and very careful counterparty risk management. The combination of the chosen funds results in a well-balanced trend-following fund with strong absolute returns.
It has the potential to achieve positive returns in both rising markets and in periods of extreme market stress. The correlation with the equity and bond markets and with traditional trend-following funds is low. The funds themselves are also not fully correlated with each other, as each program has different emphases. All funds take advantage of diversification in the important asset classes, such as equities, fixed income, currencies, credit, commodities, and volatility.
